Don't get cought up in all the supplement hype. Look in the muscle mags and you think you need another pantry near the kitchen just for all the pills and powders your going to need.
Let me say this....BULLSHIT!
These people are after your money and thats all there is to it. Don't get me wrong I'm sure alot of it would be helpful to a professional bodybuilder(cow in training)....but are you a professional bodybuilder? Oh cow in training you ask?
Cows: don't run, they eat chemical inhanced food to gain weight, they look good but are unhealthy.
Bodybuilders: (See above)
Ive never seen a cow or a bodybuilder run a 6 minute mile. Care to give it a try Govenator?
Don't get me wrong, they impress the hell out of me for being able to do what they do, but the are not athletes.
Most of what we need we can get naturally, hell there are alot of great looking natural bodybuilders out there, sure thet are generally not as big as the others but I'd take that over the chemicals any day.
;D

Protein and glut mix is great....No need for the cost P90X recovery drink, thats how they truely make their money, supplements. The cost of P90X really is cheap, its all the other shit they want you to buy that kills ya.

Amen to the hype and BS! There is plenty of protein in egg whites. Beans = Great source of protein. No fat, and just a little more than twice the carbs per serving (9g of protein to 19g carbs). They are versatile in the number of ways they can be prepared, even just by adding them plain to your salad.
Remember that “supplement” means “addition, extra, add-on, increase, or enhancement”. If you are for some reason deficient in something (like vitamin C), you can “enhance, increase, add-on, take extra” Vitamin C to fill the gap. People often use a “supplement” as a “replacement”. In some cases the philosophy is sound but it is not a requirement. For instance, if you are body building to bulk up, you will need to “increase” your protein intake, in part just so your body can have what it needs to build the new muscle let alone get through the workout. Meat as a source of protein could fill you up and weigh you down (if your protein intake requires you to eat a side of beef a day to get what you need).Rather than “replace” or “substitute” meat with something from the lab, you could drink raw egg white. Yum! What happens here is, your work out requires increased protein intake. The deficiency is created. The “supplement” is the addition that brings you up to what you need, and there is no replacement. You still eat meat, only now you have additional intake of something else that effectively meets your required need. Yum! It need not come from the lab.
The underlying issue is that people want things quick and easy, the flick of a switch, the pop of a pill, the press of a button. They make it sound so wonderful, so complete. Drink this and you will aspire to instant awesomeness. But, no matter what the elixir, the truth will always be that this will take 90 hours (1hr a day for 90 days) of laborious physical exertion. There is no replacement. There is no substitute. And unless you have a deficiency, the only supplement is a few extra rep’s per set!
