yes this isnt a new problem for me I was in an accident at 18 or 19 (im 33 now) and ive had problems ever since. Its just been that its gotten worse since ive gained this weight, some of the weight problems are marriage weight gain and also less active because of the pain. I just got the MRI a few weeks ago because of the numbness that I got in my feet and leg. I didnt mention that in the beginning because I didnt want people to tell me not to do P90X. I was always very active when I was younger, Skateboarding, martial arts, baseball, and wrestling. I have a very high pain tolerance so when it hits me hard enough that it almost takes my legs out its pretty bad. But this time the pain has gone away real fast. im convinced dropping weight and building up my core is the way to go. I just dont want to have to start and stop on the program. Im gonna give it another week to see how I feel and decide from there if I should start up again.

Oh another thing I wanted to ask is the three days I did do the videos I wasnt able to finish the last 15-20 minutes, Is that okay in the beginning? I was doing my best, but was just so spent that I couldnt push out another rep if my life depended on it. you know I just thought about this, what if I got the steroid shots to help through the pain and continued the program? Im afraid then though I wouldnt know if I was injuring myself. Also my back pain is different then just the normal muscle pain. I can tell the difference. Sorry such a long post.

Yes it is ok not to fininsh or keep up with the dvd's hell if you could you wouldnt need them, lol.
I agree that you will be better off with the weight gone, but under the circumstances you need to take it easy and look at this as a 6 month event not a 90 day event.
There are alot of thinks other then P90X that you can do to drop 10 or 12 pounds prior to starting it up again and that might help alot.
I'm not tring to talk you out of P90X, I'm tring to talk you in to finishing what you have started..to lose weight/fat. Take a week see how you feel then let me know what you want to do, I e-mailed you my cell phone number, call me anytime and we can figure something out.

Steeler, Ask your DR for a TIENS unit...it is a shock therapy device for pain control...works wonders for what u might be experiencing! What seems to me is you may have sciatic nerve injury that flares up from time to time when u tweak it just right...we use the TIENS unit all the time on our patients at work and they love it!!!

Jimmy, just take your time with it. By maintaining a proper diet you will loose the weight, granted it will not be as fast but you will still be moving in the right direction. Like I said in my update, I have lost 15 pounds in the last 5 weeks and I contribute 90 percent of the lose to simply eating the correct foods and maintaining an eating schedule which is second nature for me now. I'm sure if you need to jack your diet around for less activity Greg would be more then happy to give you some ideas. One of the biggest changes that I made was simply eating 2 servings of Oat Meal for breakfast every morning. I have never been one to eat breakfast (never had time,to many things to do). The cool thing about Oat Meal is that it's a natural fat burner. Any way that was just one thing I changed in my daily routine and I'm convinced it is a major factor with my weight loss and increase of energy, in my case anyway. Good luck, and don't give up the fight.

Thanks guys! I am waiting for a call back from the guy about the tiens unit. He is supposed to be checking with my insurance and giving me a call. I used one before a few years ago and it was great! but I never got a home use one. Diet I will work on, I think thats going to be the hardest for me. Breakfast has always been tough. The wife and I are going to try and plan something out next week to get on a better diet. Thanks for all the support, I will succeed!

Feeling alot better!! Got the Tens unit, now I just need to plan out my diet better on sparkpeople and i think I will be good to go in about a week. I need to really figure out food that I like more, or if I have to eat 30 ounces of chicken a day a more tasty way to prepare it. I did like the egg white omlet with some onion and a few slices of turkey and one piece of American cheese. I also liked the cottage cheese and also the Tuna, the apples, yogurt, etc. Maybe I will check out some of the recipes in the program. (DUH!)

Careful on the Turkey Bacon!!!!!They are pulling a bate and switch on you....There is reduced fat bacon, if you can find it you maybe better off.....turkey bacon is LOADED with salt to make it taste more like real bacon. Check the brands and see what you come up with....normal salt/sodium intake is 1500 to 2400 a day.
Glad you are feeeling better Jimmy!! ;D
